Being a parent isn’t easy, but God offers many words of encouragement for those who are overwhelmed, stressed, and weary. Find peace in these encouraging Bible passages for parents.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
While each day may be filled with one small disaster after another, don’t get caught up in worrying about what’s next. Trust that every moment is held in the steady hands of the Lord, both today and tomorrow. We can’t control every situation, but the Lord has sovereignty over even the craziest of days.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Prayer is powerful. Don’t dwell on the stressors in your life without turning to the Lord in prayer. He listens, and he knows your heart. No request is too big or too small to bring before him.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Any parent could testify to moments of weakness. Whether unruly kids or just a busy day is dragging you down, no one can always be the perfect parent. Scripture teaches us that it’s okay to have weaknesses because God’s power is made perfect in those weaknesses. You don’t have to fight to be a superhuman parent. Instead, lean into the Lord in your weak places and let his strength move into them.
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
You are never alone. When you are overwhelmed, remember that God is right by your side every step of the way. With this kind of assurance, what do we have to be afraid of or worried for? God knows your yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and he is directing your path.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
The Lord is with you at all times – the good and the bad. When you are facing fear, anxiety, and exhaustion, don’t turn to things of this world. Turn to him. God gives us strength when we are weak. He knows you – your pain, your struggles, your fears – and will carry you through them.
Parenting is no easy task, but the good news is that you’re not in it alone. You have the perfect Father with you, and he will guide your steps and be strong when you are weak.
